This theatrical winery feels like you’re visiting the ruins of a European castle, tucked into the hillside of West Kelowna. Their outdoor patios, both upstairs and downstairs, offer incredible views overlooking the vineyards, Okanagan Lake, and the surrounding mountains.

Inside, the winery is just as impressive. You’ll find towering bookshelves filled with wine, vintage decor, and eclectic pieces that tie the entire space together. Think haunted mansion meets medieval castle, complete with rich velvet furniture in their downstairs speakeasy.

From the back patio, you’ll be swept away by the views overlooking West Kelowna from above. You’ll even be able to spot Okanagan Lake and the surrounding mountains in the distance. This farm-style, truly off-the-grid winery has been farmed by the Paynter family for more than 105 years.
Off The Grid Organic Winery lives up to its name through a combination of a solar-powered straw-bale building, sustainable organic farming practices, and net-zero energy goals.
Half of the building features a sloped solar roof, while the other half is a green roof with a ramp where rescue goats can roam and graze. The 600-square-foot wine shop itself is built using straw bales with thick stucco insulation, making it just as unique as the winery experience.
When visiting, you’ll not only enjoy beautiful views from the back patio overlooking the surrounding landscape, but you’ll also have front-row views of the farm itself. With goats wandering nearby, always ready for a few head scratches while you enjoy your wine tasting, this truly is a one-of-a-kind winery experience.
