Wine lovers, take a load off!  We have compiled a list of 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries that won’t leave you with an empty bank account.  That’s right, there’s no need to second guess a fun day out with loved ones anymore.  These budget friendly wineries are easy on the wallet without compromising quality, service, atmosphere or ambience.  With this list of the top 5 budget friendly wineries in Kelowna as your secret weapon, you can officially have your wine and drink it too!

Intrigue Wines

Nestled in the rolling hills of Lake Country, Intrigue Wines tops our list of 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries.  Make no mistake about it, this family run winery has been farming and producing award winning wines ever since 2008.  What is so impressive, however, is the accessible price point Intrigue has maintained over the years.

Nowadays it is seemingly impossible to find a decent bottle of Okanagan wine under the $30 mark, yet Intrigue continues to deliver high quality, delicious wines year after year in that approachable $20 range.  Their Social Sparkling and I DO Sparkling Rosé offer incredible value, and make celebrating possible on a daily basis!  Their Social Sparkling, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Gewurztraminer, goes down easy with a fine bubble and a wonderfully crisp finish.

The I DO, a delicious frizzante style wine, blends Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Ehrenfelser, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, resulting in a beautiful blush colour and producing notes of strawberries, raspberries and honey suckle.  Perfectly suited for special occasions or for enjoying on a hot summer’s day, Intrigue’s line of sparkling wines remind us that celebrating in style need not break the bank.

Their portfolio also includes a lovely pinot gris and their popular “Social White” blend, an aromatic white wine with notes of Asian pear and tropical fruits, perfect for summer sipping!  Price point aside, Intrigue also boasts an incredible outdoor patio during the summer months, phenomenal ready-made, charcuterie, and some of the friendliest staff around, making it an absolute must-visit on our list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries

Sperling Vineyards

Planted in 1925, Sperling is proud to claim some of the oldest vineyards in the region.  Located on the limestone rich benches of South East Kelowna, Sperling Vineyards has become known and loved for its exceptional portfolio of elegant wines and is a solid choice for our list of 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries.

Having become a certified organic winery in 2017, Sperling showcases several highly unique wines, including their Natural Organic Amber Pinot Gris along with their relatively new Organic Vision Flint, a natural orange wine.  Each boasting a lovely orange colour, these wines both come at a phenomenal price point that makes opting for an entire case a tempting proposition.

Another less commonly seen wine is their Organic Ruby Pet Nat, an interesting blend of Marechal Foch and Pinot Noir that offers a palate bursting with berries.  Lively, fresh and slightly effervescent, this wine sells for only $24 a bottle.  Their equally interesting Organic Speritz Pet Nat is made of the lesser known Perle of Csaba, coming in at only $19 a bottle and absolutely perfect for enjoying on a patio.

Sperling Vineyard’s warm and welcoming tasting room is accompanied by a fantastic outdoor space, beckoning wine lovers to stay a while.  Offering incredible value, Sperling Vineyards easily earns a place on our list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries.

Frind Estate Winery

How can it be that one of the top destinations in town cracks this list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries?  Despite its world class, beachfront setting, Frind Estate Winery has done a stellar job of keeping prices at bay.  All credit goes to owner Markus Frind, founder of the former dating website, Plenty of Fish, which he sold to pursue his dream of owning a winery.

In recognizing the power of the people, Frind wines have remained very reasonably priced, matched by a wine club that is also incredibly accessible.  Not a single white wine is priced over $30, including their Big White blend, Baronesse white blend, Riesling and Viognier.  On the red side of the portfolio, only their Premier line of wines exceed $30 a bottle.  Their Pinot Noir Cuvée, Regent, and Midnight (comprised of 100% Marechel Foch) all fall under $30 a bottle.

But far and above, the most exceptional value wine on offer is the Frind Sparkling Brut.  At only $24.99 a bottle and arguably amongst the best sparkling wines in Kelowna, the value here is unparalleled.  Frind Estate Winery proves that a world class setting, beach front views, an exceptional bakery and outdoor restaurant don’t necessitate sky high prices.

So the next time you’re looking for a great day soaking up the sun and drinking wine with friends, look no further.  With palatable prices, delicious wines, tasty baked goods, and top notch wood fired pizza, it’s no wonder Frind Estate Winery cracks our list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries.

The View Winery And Vineyard

Located in East Kelowna and next on our list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries, the View Winery originally began as an apple orchard.  It was only in the mid 1990s that vineyards and cider apples were planted.  Later on in 2006, the historic packinghouse that was situated on the property and dated all the way back to 1922 was transformed into a winery and cider.  The rest, as they say, is history!

The View has been welcoming guests into their tasting room ever since to sample their extraordinary selection of wines and ciders.  Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Efrenfelser are all available for under $30 by the bottle.  Their highly popular White Rhino, an aromatic, complex Blanc de Noir made from Pinot Noir and Pinotage grapes, is priced at only $23.95 a bottle, while their highly quaffable rosésboth come in around the $20 mark as well.

Although it isn’t entirely uncommon to find white and rosé wines for under $30 in the Okanagan, it is nearly impossible to source a good bottle of Pinot Noir in that price range.  Yet, the View’s very own Pinot Noir Barrel Selection comes in at just $29.95, even winning gold at the All Canadian Wine Awards

Last but not least, don’t knock it til you try it — the View’s famous Bling Sparkling White Wine and Pink Bling Sparkling Rosé Wine are available by the can at a stellar price and make for a great grab-n-go option!

Off the Grid Organic Winery

Rounding out our list of the top 5 budget friendly Kelowna wineries is Off the Grid Organic Winery, located deep in the heart of West Kelowna.  Functioning out of a fully solar powered tasting room, Off the Grid is beloved for its resident goats who freely roam the roof (we know, it sounds made up…but it’s true!), as well as their happily grazing sheep, chickens, and other various farm animals.  Did we mention the goats are named after the cast from the TV hit series, Friends?  That’s right, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Ross and Rachel can usually be found roaming nearby.

Fit for families and friends and everyone in between, this is a go-to destination for an all-encompassing, interactive and fun experience topped off by sweeping views of the mountains and city below.  Their organic Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, and Pink Pinot Gris all come in under $20, as do their unique white blends.

As if their delicious and easy-drinking affordable wines weren’t enough, a local artisan pizzeria food truck can also be found on site.  With pizzas playfully named after their resident goats, the ever popular “Joey” (a meatlover’s delight, of course) is best enjoyed with their Pinot Noir.  We can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon than with good food, great wine, and a few furry friends!  Check out Off the Grid to see why it easily earns its place on our list of the top 5 best budget friendly wineries in Kelowna.
